The Heritage House: A Century-Old Retreat in Los Alamos

Experience Authentic History with Eco-Lux Features in Every Room

The Heritage House of Los Alamos

Renaissance ideals. Pioneer spirit. Luxury minded. The oldest standing home in Los Alamos (1882), restored with a buy-nothing-new philosophy. Named rooms, ‘gram-worthy nooks, Bali swinging bed, Kissing Cove, fire pit, two BBQs, wine barrel fountains, Toto bidet, and a Boudoir de Bouge that has to be seen to be believed. Half a block from the 1880 Union Hotel. This is the real thing.

Good to know

Step inside 140 years of California history, meticulously restored with a philosophy as old as the house itself: buy next to nothing new. Every hand-carved beam, original stained glass window, and century-old redwood was here before you — and was worth saving. What surrounds you isn't manufactured charm. It's the real thing.

Neighborhood

Los Alamos is a very charming old western town, a former stagecoach line stop... and our front yard has the stagecoach to commemorate it. It's great for selfies. Walk to many great restaurants and tasting rooms, like Full of Life Flatbread, Casa Dumetz Wines, Plenty on Bell, Bell's, and Pico. We are a stone's throw from the Union Hotel and Bodega, where many weddings are held. We are 15-20 minutes from several lovely towns and villages like Los Olivos, Solvang, Buellton, and Santa Ynez, full of tasting rooms, art galleries, and more great restaurants. If you need a Target or Trader Joe's, Santa Maria is a larger city the same distance away (just head north instead of south on Route 101). The Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara County are full of fantastic vineyards and wineries, with tasty wines and friendly people. It's like a tiny Napa with none of the attitude. We have many more great winery recommendations for you, just ask!
